ELCA Youth Ministry Network Extravganza Workshops & Webinars

This past weekend I had the honor to gather once again with many, many, many youth ministers from across the ELCA. These folks are volunteers, part-timers, full-timers, rostered lay-leaders and ordained clergy. They are young and they are old. They are liberal, moderate and conservative and it is beautiful!

Best of all, these folks really, really love the kids they are called to serve. There is no doubt about that.

I led two workshops at this event on Lutheran theology and Lutheran interpretation of scripture. Many of you wanted links to the webinars so I thought I would share those here.

Lutheran Theology: How is God at Work in the World?

Lutheran Theology: How Do Lutherans Read the Bible?

These webinars are a gift to you from the ELCA and the ELCA Youth Ministry Network as part of the Practicing Discipleship Leadership Training Initiative. Download them and share them with everyone and anyone. Check out the rest of the Practicing Discipleship training webinars led by Tiger McLuen and Terri Elton on the Network’s webpage.

It is vital that we take seriously the ways in which we engage scripture with our children and youth so that they might begin to hear themselves into God’s great story of redemption. It is vital that we think seriously about the ways in which we talk about God – our theological claims – so our children and youth might come to know the beauty of God’s grace and Christ’s work in their lives.

Bible and Theology are not just for pastors and professors. They are for all of God’s people. So GO and read and proclaim Christ’s good news so that it might truly displace the bad news.
